The world of exotic timepiece just welcomed a new member who is crypto-based. Franck Muller, a Swiss-based watchmaker has launched its crypto timepiece called “Encrypto”. The timepiece was aesthetically created with the bitcoin world in mind. Encrypto is launched in partnership with Regal Assets, a cryptocurrency trading platform and will cost between $10,000-$60,000.
For such an expensive timepiece, the Luxury watch manufacturer artistically designed the dail using the QR code of Satoshi’s Genesis Block address. The polished frame contains a laser etched public wallet address which is placed as a QR code that can be used to deposit and check the balance in the wallet. The frame also contains bitcoin’s logo. Etched on the dial is a sealed USB stick which can be used to store the private key and can be connected to a computer easily for transfer of funds.
According to the announcement, the watch’s Wallet uses deep cold storage that utilizes “offline generated, non-deterministic TRNGs (True Random Numbers Generated) that cannot be hacked.” Basically, Encrypto is a form of an upgraded paper wallet. The regional director of Franck Muller, Erol Baliyan claimed that watch was created so the company can “impact the customer at an emotional level and create a bond between the customer and the timepiece.”
The company will launch a maximum of 500 versions each of its limited-edition timepiece for both male and female. The dial and the band of the watch can be customized to the customer’s choice. Some of the models even include precious metals and diamonds in the dial and frame. The watchmaker is also exploring models that will feature (ETH), XRP and other “top five coins” in the nearest future.
