Pizza is in the crypto news again! This time, Domino’s France is giving away $110,000 in Bitcoin or cash to a lucky customer. The France branch of the globally known Pizza company is celebrating its 30th birthday with a bitcoin giveaway.
To participate in the giveaway competition, potential winners have to purchase a domino pizza and register their purchase online to have a chance at the prize draw. The competition is scheduled to run from September 4 to October 6. The winner of the competition will get €100,000 ($110,000) and can choose to withdraw his winnings in either Bitcoin or fiat.
Domino’s had earlier in May experimented with the blockchain technology. The pizza company had placed it pizzas on the blockchain courtesy of SingularityNet. In a bid to meet market demand, the company had placed Domino’s pizzas on the blockchain in Malaysia and Singapore. Sadly, the venture failed as there was no market demand and investors lost.
Equally, in February, crypto startup, Fold launched a web-based app called LN.Pizza. The app will allow people to order Domino’s Pizza through the Bitcoin Lightning Network. The team is not just targeting Domino’s as they have plans to expand their reach to other major brands.
Furthermore, it is important to note that the history of bitcoin and pizza began in 2010. The first real-world transaction using Bitcoin was done by Laszlo Hanyecz who traded 10,000 BTC for two large Papa John’s pizzas.
Domino’s lovers who would like to participate in the contest will find more information on their website.
